Pastor Avery Foster Sr
From an early age, Joshua Foster displayed an extraordinary dedication to ministry and service within the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Garner, NC. At just eight years old, he began working alongside Evangelist David Medlin, the former Minister of Music, as his Vice President. For more than a decade, Joshua faithfully assisted in shaping the music ministry, managing responsibilities such as equipment setup and maintenance, inventory oversight, directing services, and skillfully playing the keyboard. His early years of service became the foundation for his lifelong ministry in music, leadership, and pastoral care.
In 2010, Joshua transitioned into the role of Minister of Music under the leadership of Senior Pastor Avery Foster Sr. With a vision for excellence, he restructured and expanded the music ministry, incorporating additional instruments and forming what is now recognized as the TDS Praise Team. Under his direction, the ministry flourished, reaching beyond the walls of the church. Joshua and the Praise Team ministered at rest homes, revivals, Gospel concerts, and community events, including the annual Celebration of Praise. His creativity, attention to detail, and ability to cultivate the gifts of others revitalized the music department, setting a lasting standard for worship in the church. Though no longer serving as Minister of Music, Joshua continues to mentor, teach, and inspire future leaders in the department.
Joshua’s commitment to the next generation extended far beyond music. Appointed as Youth Pastor, he was tasked with creating a youth ministry that would make a lasting impact in both the church and the community. Out of this vision was birthed The Divine Spirituals Youth Organization, a ministry designed to support at-risk youth by providing mentorship, workshops, field trips, and meals—all free of charge. This organization quickly became one of Joshua’s most cherished works, bringing hope and guidance to countless young people. Today, the Divine Spirituals operates with a president and staff, while Joshua continues to serve faithfully on its board of directors.
As Joshua matured in his calling, he was recognized and affirmed by Senior Pastor Avery Sr. as one chosen by God for pastoral ministry. He faithfully served as a minister-in-training, assisting the pastoral team with administrative and spiritual responsibilities. Soon, his gift for preaching and his ability to minister hope to people in difficult circumstances became evident. Invitations began to come from churches, revivals, and community events across North Carolina, allowing Joshua to share the Gospel message beyond his home church.
Today, Joshua serves as both an Evangelist and Associate Pastor at the Fellowship Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. In this role, he ensures the smooth operation of church activities and oversees key areas of ministry, including the hospitality committee. His responsibilities extend to preaching the Word, leading prayer, officiating weddings, ministering at funerals, and representing the church in partnerships with other ministries and community organizations. Many have likened his role to that of a co-pastor, as his influence and leadership continue to grow.
Joshua’s preaching is marked by conviction, compassion, and clarity. God has gifted him with the ability to deliver messages that heal, restore, and challenge the believer. Yet, despite his growing influence, Joshua has remained humble—choosing to serve others over seeking recognition. His life is a testament to quiet faithfulness, intentional service, and an unwavering commitment to the call of God.
Beyond his ministry, Joshua treasures his role as a husband and father. He is blessed to share his life with his wife, Macallia Foster, and together they are raising three wonderful children: Miyah, Julian, and Kiyah. His family remains his greatest earthly joy and motivation, as he strives to be an example of godly leadership both in the church and at home.
The life and ministry of Evangelist Joshua Foster stand as a reminder that God equips those He calls, and through obedience and faithfulness, lives can be transformed for generations to come.
